NEW RUG AND SOME SNUGGLING GOING ON.....

BEFORE BRIAN'S SURGERY I DESIGNED AND
DREW OUT A BIG HOOKED RUG INSPIRED BY
DIFFERENT ANTIQUE HOOKED RUGS.
I PICKED OUT MY WOOL'S AND HAD EVERYTHING
CUT AND READY GO THINKING WHEN I GOT
HIM HOME IN TWO WEEKS I'D HAVE SOMETHING
READY TO WORK ON. LITTLE DID I KNOW IT
WOULD BE TWO MONTHS BEFORE I COULD
BRING HIM HOME! SO NOW THAT MY FOLKY
QUILT IS DONE I AM WORKING ON MY NEW RUG
AND REALLY ENJOYING IT. HERE IS MY PROGRESS
SO FAR.

I'M USING FOUR DIFFERENT AS IS
REBECCA ERB WOOL'S FOR THE BACKGROUND
AND I'M LOVING THE OLD LOOK OF IT.

I'M THINKING I WILL DO AN E-PATTERN WHEN
I GET MY RUG ALL DONE FOR THOSE THAT
MAY WANT TO HOOK IT OR PUNCH IT.
IT WOULD BE FUN TO PUNCH TOO!

LOTS MORE TO GO BUT I'M USING BIG
CUTS SO IT'S GOING PRETTY FAST. THE HORSE
TOOK UP SOME SPACE!!

NOW FOR THE SNUGGLING PART! THESE TWO
ARE CONSTANT COMPANIONS BUT I DO GET IN
MY SNUGGLES TOO!  BRIAN IS DOING WELL
AND I'M SO PROUD OF HIM! WE THANK YOU
ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS
AND THOUGHTS FOR US. THEY MEAN SO VERY
MUCH TO US AND WE KNOW WE HAVE COME
THIS FAR BECAUSE OF THEM. PRAISE THE LORD
FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS AND TENDER MERCIES.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

Brian is so blessed to have you and Zoe. Love from humans and fur babies is what gets us through life. The rug is wonderful. I look forward to seeing it done. God bless.

Lori - Your new rug is so beautiful! Forgive me, but I am new at this. Did you sew a black facing/tape onto the rug before beginning the hooking? I can't quite tell from the picture. I have not seen this before, but it seems like a good idea. You and Brian are always in my prayers.

Zoe is letting Brian he is well loved and thought of. I'm sure Brian enjoys her touches and vice versa.

Your new design is beautiful and can't wait to see the whole 'shebang'. Glad you are finally able to get the whole family together and get back to a rather new normal.

Thank you my friends!

Diane,
I ripped long strips of black wool yardage for my binding (can make any width you want, I do about 1-1/2”) and sewed it on by machine before I begin to hook the rug. It faces in towards the rug. Put the needle down and pivot at corners. I hook up to it on the outside edge. If you get off a thread the outside loop hides it anyway. Then I trim my linen, fold to the back and sew down by hand after the rug is hooked folding a mitered corner. To me it saves a lot of time with the finishing. Then I steam the rug well. Hope this helps. Lori
