A NEW DOLL

I USED MY NETTIE PATTERN BUT DID
HER WITH NO FACE. I MADE THE DOLL BODY
THIS SUMMER BUT HADN'T FOUND THE TIME
TO DRESS HER. SHE IS RAG AND COTTON
STUFFED. I MADE HER "SOCKS" OUT OF
A PLAID BROWN HOMESPUN. THEY ARE
PART OF HER LEGS THO.

THE BLOUSE AND SKIRT REPRODUCTION
FABRICS ARE BOTH FROM BONNIE BLUE.
I MADE LITTLE TUCKS ON THE FRONT OF
THE RED PRINT BLOUSE AND SEWED THEM
DOWN BY HAND. THE WAISTBAND ON HER
SKIRT IS A DARK BROWN/BLACK HOMESPUN.
THE SKIRT FABRIC IS A BROWN WITH TINY
BIT OF RED AND OFF WHITE IN IT.
I LOVED THESE FABRICS WHEN I SAW THEM
AND KNEW RIGHT AWAY THEY WERE GOING
TO BE JUST WHAT I WANTED FOR MY DOLL.
PERHAPS THAT IS WHY I DIDN'T DRESS HER
RIGHT AWAY. I'M ALWAYS INSPIRED BY ANTIQUE
CLOTH DOLLS AND TRIED TO GIVE HER THAT LOOK.

I DID A TUCK ON TOP OF THE SLEEVE
AS WELL. I THINK SHE TURNED OUT LOOKING
PRETTY OLD. OF COURSE I DID MY AGING
TECHNIQUE TO THE BODY.

I LOVE HOW SHE CAME OUT. I WILL
BE KEEPING HER BUT WANTED TO SHARE
HER AS SHE IS A SPECIAL GIRL.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

ANOTHER AUTUMN DISPLAY

I HAVE THIS DISPLAY BY OUR BACK DOOR.
I MADE FIVE MORE CONCRETE PUMPKINS.
THE BIG ONE AT THE FOOT OF THIS CHAIR
IS SQUATTY COMPARED TO THE OTHER BIGGER ONES
I MADE PREVIOUSLY BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE
ENOUGH OF THE CONCRETE MIXTURE TO FILL
THE PLASTIC PUMPKIN MOLD BUT I LOVE
HOW IT CAME OUT AND GIVES ME A DIFFERENT
SHAPE TO DISPLAY.

I BOUGHT THE SMALL WHITE PUMPKIN
AT OUR LITTLE LOCAL FARMERS MARKET.
IT'S THE CUTEST SHAPE.
I TOOK ONE BIG, ONE SMALLER
CONCRETE PUMPKIN TO MY
FRIEND KATHY THE OTHER DAY AND
PLAN TO GIVE MY FRIEND JUDY ONE
OF EACH ALSO. I'LL BE GOING UP HER WAY
WEEK AFTER NEXT SO WILL TAKE THEM
TO HER THEN. IT'S 72 HERE TODAY AND THE
LEAVES ARE REALLY TURNING. IT'S
JUST A GORGEOUS FALL DAY!
WISHING EACH ONE THE SAME.

UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

FALL UPDATE PREVIEW

HERE ARE THE GOODS I'VE MANAGED TO
MAKE FOR MY FALL UPDATE.
THREE DIFFERENT LITTLE JACK'S QUILTS!
DONE WITH PRIMITIVE HAND APPLIQUE STITCHES
AND BLACK SEED BEADS. HAND QUILTED.
THE PUMPKIN SHAPES WERE TAKEN FROM
AN OLD RED WAGON QUILT BOOK.
EACH ONE HAS A DIFFERENT FACE, BORDER AND
DIFFERENT QUILTING DESIGN.

THESE TWO LITTLE DOLLS ARE THE SWEETEST!
A NEW DESIGN~~~I'VE CALLED THEM PINKEEP
DOLLS~~~AS THEY HAVE THEIR VERY OWN TINY
X~STITCHED PUMPKIN PINKEEPS. THEIR DELICATE
FACIAL FEATURES ARE
LIGHTLY DRAWN ON WITH INK.

I LOVE THIS QUILT DESIGN SO DECIDED
IT WOULD BE FUN TO DO A HOOKED
RUG USING IT. THE BASKET & CROW DESIGNS
ARE FROM THE QUILT BOOK
LADY BIRD, LADY BIRD BY JAN PATEK
AND ALMA ALLEN. I ADDED THE PUMPKIN
IN THE CENTER OF THE BASKET.

LASTLY A CROW & PUMPKIN PILLOW.
IT'S A LINEN BACKING WITH A HOMESPUN
PUMPKIN & PATCH AND A WOOL CROW.
A SWEET LITTLE PILLOW TO LEAVE OUT
ALL FALL. THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR THIS
UPDATE BUT I ENJOYED MAKING EACH
ITEM. THE NEW OFFERINGS FOR SALE ALBUM

GIFTS & GOODIES

THIS IS A LITTLE QUILT I MADE FOR MY
FRIEND PAM AND GIFTED IT TO HER AT
THE SHOW. THE BASKET/CROW DESIGN IS
FROM THE BOOK LADY BIRD, LADY BIRD
BY JAN PATEK/ALMA ALLEN.

THIS IS A LITTLE QUILT I MADE FOR MY FRIEND
BOBBIE AND ALSO GIFTED IT TO HER AT THE
SHOW. BOBBIE HAS TWO OTHER LITTLE QUILTS
OF DIFFERENT PATTERNS IN BROWNS & BLUES
THAT I MADE FRAMED ON THE WALL. I THINK
SHE IS PLANNING ON ADDING THIS ONE TO THE
GROUPING. I ENJOYED MAKING THESE SMALL GIFTS
FOR MY FRIENDS BEFORE WE LEFT FOR THE SHOW.

I BOUGHT THIS LITTLE BASKET FROM ANN.
IT'S THE CUTEST LITTLE BASKET AND I HAD ADMIRED THEM
ON HER ETSY SITE BUT HADN'T GOTTEN AROUND
TO GETTING ONE. I PLAN TO PUT IT NEXT TO
MY CHAIR WHEN I AM HOOKING TO HOLD
THE LITTLE WOOL SNIPPETS I TRIM OFF OF MY RUGS.

HERE IS THE SWEET LITTLE ANTIQUE DOLL
DRESS IN BROWN I BOUGHT AT THE SHOW.
I HAD BEEN WANTING A BROWN ONE FOR
SOME TIME TO HANG WITH MY INDIGO ONES
IN OUR BROWN & BLUE GUEST ROOM.
THIS LITTLE THING JUST CALLED MY NAME!

I COLLECT OLD HORSE COOKIE CUTTERS SO
I COULDN'T RESIST THIS ONE FROM BOBBIE'S
BOOTH.  ALSO THE CAT ONE FROM HER TOO!

I HAD BEEN EYEING THIS DARLING LITTLE OLD
CRADLE WITH GREY PAINT IN BOBBIE'S BOOTH AND
SHE WAS SO SWEET TO GIVE IT TO ME FOR
HELPING HER IN HER BOOTH. THANK YOU
BOBBIE! IT LOOKS PERFECT IN THE BROWN & BLUE
BEDROOM TOO AS I HAVE SOME OTHER OLD
GREY PAINTED PIECES IN THERE. I HAVE A THING
FOR LITTLE OLD DOLL CRADLES! I THINK THIS IS
NUMBER 8 IN MY COLLECTION.

LAUREN HAD GIFTED ME ONE OF HER SPOON NECKLACES
A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. SHE WAS SELLING THE BEADS AND
HANDLES WITH WOOL PRINTED ON THEM IN HER BOOTH
SO I BOUGHT THEM TO ADD TO MY NECKLACE. GIVES IT
A NICE LITTLE EXTRA TOUCH, DON'T YOU THINK?

ALSO BOUGHT THESE TINY GOURDS. THEY ARE SO
LITTLE....I HAVE THEM IN A SMALL OLD WOODEN
BOWL IN THE KITCHEN. I ALSO BOUGHT THE NEWEST
ISSUE OF MERCANTILE GATHERINGS MAGAZINE.
THE AUTUMN ISSUE....AND I REALLY LIKE THE
DIRECTION THEY ARE GOING WITH IT SO I
GOT A SUBSCRIPTION TODAY. I HAD IT FOR THE FIRST
COUPLE OF YEARS AND THEN LET IT GO. THEY ARE
GOING MORE EARLY PRIMITIVE SO I THINK I WILL
REALLY ENJOY IT AGAIN. THAT'S IT FOR NOW.

I AM WORKING ON FINISHING MY GOODS FOR MY
UPDATE WHICH SHOULD BE NEXT WEEK.
MORE INFO ON THAT IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

HARVEST AT THE MILL SHOW!

BRIAN, ZOE & I JUST RETURNED LATE THIS AFTERNOON
FROM HOLLY, MI AND THE HARVEST AT THE MILL SHOW.
IT WAS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THIS PRIMITIVES SHOW
AND IT WAS A WONDERFULLY DONE EVENT.
THANK YOU TO DAWN AND DICK FOR ALL THEIR
HARD WORK TO MAKE THIS A SPECIAL TIME FOR ALL.
FROM THE MOUNTAIN MUSIC PLAYING TO THE
HORSE & CARRIAGE RIDES....EVERYTHING
TOGETHER MADE IT A MOST ENJOYABLE DAY.

I HAD A GREAT TIME HELPING MY DEAR FRIEND
BOBBIE OF THE EVENING STITCHER BLOG
ORGANIZE HER BOOTH BEFORE THE SHOW
STARTED. SHE HAD SOME GREAT PIECES THAT
WENT FLYING OUT OF THE BOOTH! I WAS LUCKY
ENOUGH TO GET A COUPLE TREASURES
MYSELF.

LAUREN OF RUGS AND PUGS BLOG IS
PUTTING THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON HER
BOOTH. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I MET
LAUREN IN PERSON AND SHE IS A REAL
SWEETY! LAUREN HAD SOME AWESOME
GOODIES IN HER BOOTH.

THE ABOVE BOOTH BELONGED TO ANN
OF 1803 OHIO FARM BASKETS BLOG.
ANN IS A SWEETY TOO! IT WAS NICE TO
MEET YOU ANN!!

THIS WAS AN AWESOME BOOTH I BOUGHT A
SPECIAL LITTLE ANTIQUE DOLL SIZE DRESS FROM.
I'LL SHARE MY GOODIES TOMORROW.

THIS BOOTH WAS NEXT TO BOBBIE. I FORGET
HER NAME BUT I KNOW SHE IS FROM MI.
I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN THINGS DOWN!

SOME OTHER BOOTHS AT THE SHOW.

I BELIEVE ABOVE IS
THE PARSON'S DAUGHTER BOOTH.

I THINK THIS ONE IS PRISM BOOTH OUT
OF MIDLAND, MI.

I THINK THIS ONE IS PRIMSBYTHEWATER BLOG.

I ALSO GOT TO MEET MY DEAR FRIEND PAM OF

CONCRETE PUMPKINS

I WANTED TO MAKE SOME OF THESE CONCRETE
PUMPKINS LAST YEAR BUT JUST DIDN'T GET AROUND
TO IT. I HAD SOME PLASTIC TRICK OR TREAT
PAILS TO USE FOR THE MOLDS THAT I BOUGHT
LAST YEAR AND ON LABOR DAY BRIAN HELPED
ME TO MIX UP SOME CONCRETE AND PEAT MOSS.
IT WAS A GUESS AS TO HOW LONG TO LEAVE THEM
IN THE MOLDS AND IT WASN'T VERY WARM OUTSIDE
SO IS TAKING ALL WEEK FOR THEM TO DRY GOOD.
I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE MOLDS OFF LATE
TUES. AFTERNOON. THEY HAD SHRUNKEN AWAY
FROM THE PLASTIC ENOUGH THAT I FIGURED IT
WAS OK. YOU WANT THEM SOFT YET TO SCRAP
OFF THE FACE FROM THE MOLD ( I WANTED THEM TO
BE JUST PLAIN PUMPKINS), TO ROUND THE TOP
A BIT AND TO MAKE NICE LINES IN THE SIDES.
I TRIED TO TAKE THE SMALL MOLD OFF TOO
SOON AND PART OF THE BOTTOM ON ONE SIDE DIDN'T STICK
SO WELL BUT THE SIDE YOU SEE IS FINE SO IT
WILL STILL LOOK OK. IT WAS A LEARNING LESSON
BUT FOR A FIRST TIME I THINK THEY TURNED OUT
PRETTY GOOD. THEY ARE STILL DRYING AS IT'S ONLY
BEEN IN THE SIXTIES OR AROUND 70 AND NOT
ALWAYS SUN. TODAY IS NICE SO HOPEFULLY THEY
WILL KEEP DRYING GOOD. YOU CAN SEE THE SMALL ONE
IS DRYING MORE. YESTERDAY I FOUND MORE PAILS
AT OUR LOCAL THRIFT SHOP SO HOPE TO MAKE MORE
BUT MAYBE NOT THIS YEAR. I WILL DO THEM IN
AUGUST NEXT TIME SO I HAVE THEM ALL DONE
BEFORE OUR COOLER WEATHER COMES.

I HOPE TO HAVE AN UPDATE IN A LITTLE OVER A WEEK
OR SO.  MORE INFO ON THAT NEXT WEEK.
ENJOY THESE FALL DAYS. I KNOW I AM! I'LL
HAVE SOME FALL HOME DECOR PICS
TO SHARE SOON TOO.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI
