SO, WHAT DO YA THINK?

I BOUGHT THIS ANTIQUE SPOON HOLDER/WALL BOX
A FEW WEEKS AGO. IT'S IN ATTIC FINISH. I HAD THE
SPOONS ALREADY. I LOVE IT BUT HERE'S MY
DILEMMA....

IT'S UP KINDA HIGH ON THE WALL IN THE
DINING ROOM CUZ I DIDN'T WANT
TO MAKE ANOTHER HOLE TO MOVE
IT LOWER. I HAD THE BLACK REPRO SPOON RACK
HERE AND IT WAS LONGER. SO, I HAVE 9" FROM
THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX TO THE LIGHT SWITCH
COVER. WHAT SHOULD I THINK ABOUT PUTTING
HERE SO IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE BOX IS
FLOATING UP SO HIGH? A SAMPLER? A SMALLER
HOOKED RUG? AN ANTIQUE SOMETHING? I'M
ALSO THINKING ONE OF DON AND PAT'S WOODEN
PLATES WOULD LOOK GOOD INSIDE THE BOX.

ALSO BEEN PLAYING A BIT TODAY. I'M TRYING TO
GET THE DUSTING AND VACUUMING CAUGHT
UP. COULDN'T RESIST PLAYING WITH MY GIFTS
FROM JULIE. THIS IS WHERE I HUNG MY DOLL HOUSE
DOLL. DO YOU LIKE HER HERE? SHE'S IN THE LIVING
ROOM ON TOP OF THE BIG ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
WHERE I CAN SEE HER AND ENJOY HER.

I MOVED THE HEART MAKE~DO FROM JULIE TO
THE TOP OF THE STACK OF ANTIQUE BOXES IN OUR
BEDROOM. I THINK IT LOOKS
BETTER CUZ THINGS ARE SPREAD OUT
MORE. ALSO I WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE
FOR THE SWEET COMMENTS ABOUT OUR RETURN
HOME AND MY NEW DOLLS. I'M GLAD YOU LIKE
THEM! I AM TRYING TO FINISH THE STAR QUILT UP
FIRST AND THEN I'LL GET BACK TO THEIR DRESSES.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

In anwser to your dilemma... I would say since you will probably have to put another hole in the wall anyway to hang something else...then move the rack down a little by redoing the nail it is on and then you will have better proportion to hang a sampler or rug or plate. My first thought was the sampler.
Just my input.. I am sure you will make it look just right when your finished. You have a great eye for prim.

Love your new piece, really looks nice with the spoons. I tend to do that too, I put things where there is a hole, so not the best set ups;)

I am thinking something like a tin quilt template. I have three repros, a star, basket and tulip, on the wall in my quilt lab.

Love your new spoon rack and love the attic finish. Maybe something narrow underneath, like a primitive attic finish-look sign that maybe reads SPOONS.

Hi Lori,
Your new spoon rack is wonderful! It's hard to tell when looking at something on a computer screen rather than seeing it in person, but I think I might put the rack down lower and then put something small above it. That way the rack would be eye level and with something smaller on top it wouldn't look top heavy. It will look great whatever you decide because you have such a great eye. Don't you love to play when you find a new treasure? Have fun!

Hi Lori!
Love that spoon rack....what a fabulous find!! My first thought was to put one of your hooked rugs below it.... you always do such wonderful work, and I think one would look great there....
Julie's gifts look perfect where you have them.... You have a great decorating style, and a good eye.... I always think your decor is just right, so I'm sure whatever you do with the spoon rack will look fantastic!
Enjoy your Sunday!!

Hmmmmm....you're saying there's something "wrong" with holes in the wall??? LOL....I'd be pounding away - and some day wondering where I put my tub of speckle.... Yeah, not one of my more endearing traits.....But, if you really aren't that willy nilly, I vote for a small narrow sampler.....Your tweaking looks great! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Love the spoon rack ~ was thinking something long and narrow under it ~ like a sign. Otherwise I would move it down and hang something above it.
Beautiful displays!!!

Hi Lori!
I LOVE the spoon rack and love all the other suggestions too, and also agree that you always do a fabulous job decorating! My suggestion would be to hang a small hooked rug below it. It would add softness to the staight lines of the window frames and the shape of the box, and it would also cover the switchplate and be easy to access due to the softness of it, rather than having to lift something off each time you wanted to use it!! Jeff always laughs at me because I am always trying to hide my switchplates and now I am trying to hide yours!! *smile*
I love where you put the Doll House Angel and the Heart Makedo Pincushion and am so happy that you love them both!!
Happy Decorating, My Friend!!
Warm Hugs~~

For goodness sake Lori. I have been gone for a few days and come back to find that you have been on a small roller coaster ride. I am so happy that things turned out ok and that you are home now. Your new gifts are lovely. Nothing like a little love in the mail:)
I have holes all over in my walls. I just move the things around and leave them there if they are not too big. The rack and spoons are so neat. Something with a little color underneath would be nice. Good luck.

Nice little hanging spoon holder...very cute! You could drape a little quilt like it is coming out of an open drawer at the bottom of the holder. If it is a solid bottom and no way to hold it, perhaps you have something of weight to hold the quilt in place...a heavy pincushion? A metal candleholder or something else heavy. Show us a pic with what you decide to do, ok? I know it will look nice!

Hi Lori...trying to catch up on some of my blogging this morning. I love the spoon rack!! Looks so goo with your spoons. I know that you don't want to poke another hole, but maybe if you moved it down and then hung something smaller above to cover the old hole? I am thinking that the more substantial piece should be at eye level??? Just my opinion, but I am sure that what ever you do it will look great! Love the other arrangements also, and so glad that Brian is doing a little better every day!! Tina

I think I would move the spoon rack
(or just sell it to me and solve that problem) down because it is so important. Then put a small branch with tied bundles of dried thyme over the hole. Maybe the hole will hold the branch or just s bigger bundle of herbs or the herbs can hang off the spoon rack.
sure glad you wanted suggestions. Linda B.
