PANTRY BOX AND SOME WORKS IN PROGRESS

WE TOOK A LITTLE TWO NIGHT TRIP INTO
WISCONSIN THIS PAST WEEKEND FOR A BELATED
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.  I GOT TO DO A
LITTLE ANTIQUING AND FOUND THIS ATTIC
FINISH 10" PANTRY BOX (ON THE BOTTOM) FOR
MY BIG GREEN CUPBOARD IN THE LIVING ROOM.

HERE IS MY COLLECTION. THE NEW ONE
IS ON THE TOP ROW, MIDDLE BOTTOM.

I'VE BEEN WORKING A BIT ON A SAMPLER
FOR OUR BEDROOM AND THIS IS WHAT I HAVE
SO FAR. THE HOUSE WAS INSPIRED BY AN ANTIQUE
SAMPLER. THE REST I'M MAKING UP AS I GO. IT
HAS TO FIT IN A FRAME I HAVE ON HAND
SO I DID A RUNNING STITCH WITH A
DARKER THREAD SO I KNOW WHAT MY WORK
AREA SHOULD BE.

I STARTED PIECING SOME SCHOOLHOUSE QUILT
BLOCKS TODAY FOR A WALL HANGING ALSO
FOR OUR BEDROOM. THE PATTERN IS ONE OF MY
FAVORITES AND BY MY DEAR FRIEND CAROLE COLLINS.
I'M GOING TO DO SOME BROWN HOUSES TOO. I
THINK THERE WILL BE SIX OF EACH WITH SASHING
IN BETWEEN. I'LL TRY TO GET MORE DONE YET
THIS WEEK AND SHOW YOU MORE ON THE
WEEKEND. AS ALWAYS, THANKS FOR
STOPPING BY. UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

FINISHED RUG

HERE IS THE RUG I'VE BEEN
WORKING ON. IT'S BASED ON AN ANTIQUE
RUG. THE DATE IS TO COMMEMORATE
OUR ANNIVERSARY YEAR ONLY I
WANTED IT TO LOOK MORE ANTIQUE LIKE
 SO I PUT 1876 INSTEAD OF 1976.
ALSO I WANTED A RUG THAT WAS NOT
DIRECTIONAL. IT'S A SIMPLE RUG BUT
I DO LOVE IT. I USED MOSTLY AS IS WOOL IN
8, 8.5, 9 AND 9.5 CUTS. IT MEASURES
28" X 48".  I DREW THE RECTANGLE SIZE
I NEEDED TO FIT BESIDE THE BED AND THEN
JUST DREW THE HALF CIRCLES AND BRANCHES
WITH LEAVES FREEHAND.

NOW I'M WORKING ON A SAMPLER FOR OUR
BEDROOM THAT I AM MAKING UP TO
FIT A FRAME I HAVE ON HAND.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.
WISHING YOU ALL A WONDERFUL DAY.
UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

YAY! I'M RUG HOOKING AGAIN....

HERE'S A LITTLE PEEK AT A RUG
I HAD STARTED BEFORE MY ECZEMA
DIAGNOSIS AND HAD TO PUT UP TILL
I WAS HEALED. I WENT YESTERDAY TO THE
DERMATOLOGIST AND I AM GOOD TO GO
SO I HAVE BEEN ENJOYING RUG HOOKING AGAIN.

THIS RUG WAS INSPIRED BY AN ANTIQUE
RUG BUT I DREW MY OWN DESIGN OUT.
IT'S QUITE A LARGE RUG BUT WILL FIT
NICELY NEXT TO THE GUEST BED ON THE
FLOOR I THINK. I HOPE TO MAKE LOTS OF
PROGRESS THIS WEEKEND AND FINISH IT
SOME TIME NEXT WEEK.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE KIND COMMENTS
ABOUT MY STAR QUILT. I SO APPRECIATE EVERYONE
THAT TOOK TIME TO TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
NOW BACK TO MY RUG. UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

RUG FOR SALE

I'VE DECIDED TO OFFER THIS RUG FOR SALE
SINCE WE HAD THE NEW CARPETING PUT IN IT DOESN'T
SHOW UP AGAINST IT. THE BACKGROUND ON THE
HOOKED RUG IS TOO SIMILAR TO THE
CARPETING COLOR SO I THINK I WILL
HOOK IT AGAIN IN A DARKER BACKGROUND.
THE DESIGN IS BY MARIA BARTON OF
STAR RUG COMPANY.  IT MEASURES ABOUT
23-1/4" X 30-1/4" AND IS HOOKED ON GOOD QUALITY
LINEN WITH HAND DYED AND AS IS OFF THE BOLT
WOOL, ALSO GOOD QUALITY. I'VE HOOKED IT IN
SIZE 8 CUTS WHICH ARE 1/4" WIDE STRIPS OF WOOL.
I'M ASKING $600.00 FOR IT WITH SHIPPING INCLUDED.
I KNOW THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY TO SPEND ALL AT
ONCE SO IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED I WILL DO A LAYAWAY
FOR THREE MONTHS. IF
INTERESTED OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE
MORE INFORMATION PLEASE EMAIL ME AT

I HAVE MY STAR QUILT DONE.  JUST NEED TO ADD A SLEEVE
FOR HANGING. I'LL SHOW A PICTURE MAYBE ON
TUESDAY. RIGHT NOW I'M STITCHING ANOTHER SAMPLER
INSPIRED BY AN ANTIQUE ONE.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

OLD TIN

AFTER SEEING HOW WONDERFUL
MY FRIEND JUDY'S CANDLE MOLDS
LOOKED IN HER BOWL RACK I DECIDED
TO COLLECT A FEW FOR THE BOWL RACK
SHE GIFTED ME A FEW YEARS AGO.
I BOUGHT THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM (12 HOLE)
AND THE ONE ON THE UPPER LEFT (8 HOLE) ON EBAY.
THE ONE ON THE UPPER RIGHT (6 HOLE) WAS GIFTED TO
ME BY JUDY JUST THE OTHER DAY WHEN
WE HAD A BELATED CHRISTMAS EXCHANGE.
SHE LIVES OVER AN HOURS DRIVE FROM ME AND WE JUST
HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET TOGETHER SO SHE
CAME FOR THE DAY LAST FRIDAY.

A CLOSER LOOK.

I'VE ALSO BEEN COLLECTING OLD TIN
HORSE COOKIE CUTTERS. I LIKE THEM TO
HAVE A DARK PATINA AND EVEN SOME
RUST ON THEM IS OK WITH ME. IN THE BOWLS ABOVE
ARE THREE I HAVE COLLECTED.

ABOVE ARE TWO MORE IN MY COLLECTION.
THE ONE ON THE LEFT WAS ANOTHER OF MY
WONDERFUL GIFTS FROM JUDY. THE ONE
ON THE RIGHT I PURCHASED AT AN ANTIQUES SHOP.

I HAVE A FEW HEARTS TOO. THESE ARE NOT SO
DARK A PATINA BUT I LOVE THEM JUST THE SAME.
THE ONE IN FRONT WAS PURCHASED ON EBAY AND IS
VERY TINY. THE ONE IN BACK ANOTHER OF MY GIFTS
FROM JUDY.

I HAVE THE HEARTS SETTING ON THE SHELF OF
MY SPOON RACK WHERE I HAVE AN OLD
TIN MEASURE NEXT TO THEM.

I HAVE A FEW OTHER PIECES THAT I HAVEN'T
SHOWN BUT MAYBE ANOTHER DAY. THANK YOU
DEAR JUDY FOR ALL OF THE WONDERFUL GIFTS
AND MOSTLY FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP. IT WAS A
VERY SPECIAL DAY SPENT WITH A TRUE FRIEND.

UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

NEW SAMPLER GROUPING AND QUILTING MY STAR QUILT

ABOVE ARE THE THREE NEW SAMPLERS
I RECENTLY STITCHED FOR OUR BLUE/BROWN
GUEST BEDROOM.

ABOVE IS THE THIRD ONE I STITCHED THIS PAST
WEEK. IT'S A STACY NASH PATTERN CALLED
MISS MAE'S SPRING SAMPLER. IT'S STITCHED ON
LINEN USING DMC THREADS.

THE LIGHTING ISN'T SO GOOD BUT YOU CAN
GET AN IDEA OF HOW THEY LOOK NEXT TO
THE LITTLE INDIGO DRESSES.

THE LARGE SAMPLER ABOVE WAS WHERE
THE LUCINDA SAMPLER IS NOW. I MOVED
IT HERE ABOVE THE LITTLE BLACK DRY SINK
AND DECIDED I LIKED IT SO I PUT THE RED
GAMEBOARD THAT WAS IN
IT'S PLACE OUT IN THE LIVING ROOM.

I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE HOW I AM
QUILTING MY STAR QUILT. BAPTIST FAN IS
MY FAVORITE QUILTING DESIGN. IT'S AN ALL OVER
DESIGN WHICH MEANS YOU DO THE SAME PATTERN TO
COVER THE ENTIRE QUILT. I START AT THE BOTTOM
RIGHT CORNER AND WORK TO THE LEFT, ONE ROW
AT A TIME. ABOVE IS THE PLASTIC TEMPLATE
I USE. THIS IS THE LARGEST I HAVE BUT
I DO HAVE SEVERAL SMALLER SIZES AND USE
THEM ACCORDING TO THE SIZE OF THE QUILT I AM DOING.

HERE I AM MIDWAY ON A ROW AND DRAWING MY
NEXT SET OF ARCS.  I JUST DO ONE SET AT
AT TIME WITH A CHALK MARKER. I LINE UP
THE TEMPLATE LINES ON THE RIGHT WITH THE
PREVIOUSLY QUILTED LINES, MAKE SURE
I HAVE THE TEMPLATE STRAIGHT AND DRAW
MY NEXT SET.

ABOVE ARE THE LINES I JUST DREW. I START
WITH THE SMALLEST ARC AND WORK MY WAY OUT.

HERE I AM HAND QUILTING USING THE ROCKING
THE CRADLE MOTION. AFTER GETTING SEVERAL
STITCHES ON MY NEEDLE I PULL IT THROUGH.
I USE A METAL QUILTERS THIMBLE WITH A RIDGE
ON TOP TO KEEP THE NEEDLE FROM SLIPPING AND
SIZE EIGHT QUILTING NEEDLES. I HAD TO SET
MY QUILT ASIDE UNTIL MONDAY BECAUSE
I HAVE TO USE THE ECZEMA OINTMENT TODAY AND
TOMORROW AND THEN AGAIN NEXT WEEKEND AND
THEN I AM DONE! I DIDN'T WANT TO CHANCE
GETTING THE GREASY STUFF ON MY QUILT! I
DID GET TWO AND A HALF ROWS OF QUILTING DONE
THIS PAST WEEK SO I MADE GOOD
PROGRESS ON IT.  I HOPE TO HAVE IT HANGING
IN THE HALLWAY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I'M STILL
NOT HOOKING UNTIL I'M DONE WITH THE ECZEMA TREATMENT.
I DON'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON IRRITATING IT SINCE
I AM SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE. HAVE A GREAT
WEEKEND AND THANKS FOR DROPPING BY.
UNTIL NEXT TIME......LORI
