LARGE FALL QUILTS

THESE ARE MY LARGE FALL QUILTS ALL DESIGNED
BY LINDA BRANNOCK IN HER MISS JUMP'S BOOKS.
THIS ONE IS FROM MISS JUMP'S QUILT ALBUM
AND IS CALLED LATE NIGHT IN THE PUMPKIN PATCH.
IT'S ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITE QUILTS I'VE EVER MADE.

FROM MISS JUMP'S MEMORIES THIS QUILT
IS CALLED SQUINT YOUR EYES.
IT WAS REALLY FUN TO DO.
ALSO FROM MISS JUMP'S MEMORIES AND ANOTHER
OF MY FAVORITES THIS ONE IS CALLED SIX CATS IN MY GARDEN.
IF YOU ARE COUNTING, DON'T FORGET THE TAIL! LOL

OUR LOVELY FALL WEATHER HAS LEFT US AGAIN FOR
MORE TEMPS IN THE 80'S BUT SUPPOSED TO BE
BACK IN THE 70'S IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.
THERE ARE LEAVES TURNING ALREADY SO WE KNOW
COOLER DAYS ARE HERE TO STAY VERY SOON.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....LORI

SOME OF MY FALL QUILTS....

I KNOW, I KNOW IT'S NOT QUITE FALL YET BUT WE
HAD 40 DEGREES LAST NIGHT. IT'S IN THE SIXTIES TODAY
AND IT JUST FEELS AND SMELLS LIKE FALL IN THE AIR.
SO I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE SOME OF MY SMALL
FALL QUILTS THAT I LIKE TO PUT AROUND OUR HOME.
THE ABOVE QUILT IS A PATTERN BY CHERI PAYNE. I LOVE
THIS QUILT. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO MAKE.

THESE TWO ARE FROM PATTERNS IN A JO MORTON BOOK.
LOVE JO'S BOOKS AND PATTERNS!

ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES. THIS PATTERN CAME
FROM AN OLDER BOOK CALLED LADYBIRD, LADYBIRD
BY JAN PATEK AND ALMA ALLEN.
PARDON THE FOLD DOWN THE MIDDLE! GUESS
I NEED TO TAKE THEM OUT MORE OFTEN AND REFOLD!!

ANOTHER CHERI PAYNE PATTERN. IT'S CALLED
TURKEY TRACKS AND WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A TURKEY
WHERE THE PUMPKINS ARE.

THESE TWO I MADE UP ON MY OWN. LOVE
THE MUTED SHADES OF THE ONE PATCH. I THINK I
TOOK INSPIRATION FROM MY FRIEND CAROLE'S QUILTS
ON THE STAR ONE.

MADE THIS ONE UP TOO. JUST A NICE SCRAPPY FOUR PATCH.

THESE LOVELIES WERE MADE AND GIFTED TO ME BY
MY DEAR FRIEND CAROLE COLLINS (MENTIONED ABOVE)
AND I LOVE THEM! AREN'T THE PUMPKIN COASTERS NEAT?!

I'D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO VISITED
ME ON MY PICTURETRAIL THESE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS.
I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR BUYING THE WORKS
OF MY HANDS. IT TRULY IS A LABOR OF LOVE FOR ME
TO MAKE EACH ITEM AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM. OR IF
YOU JUST STOPPED BY TO TAKE A LOOK, I APPRECIATE
YOU VISITING AS WELL.
THANK YOU ALSO TO THOSE THAT TOOK THE TIME TO EMAIL
ME ABOUT MY HOME AND OFFERINGS. IT'S ALWAYS
A PLEASURE TO HEAR FROM A KINDRED SPIRIT. BLESSINGS

SOME FALL FINISHES

I LOVE THIS PATTERN BY JENNY OF COUNTRY RUSTIC PRIMITIVES!
FIRST I STITCHED THE FRAMED ONE ON
OSNABERG AND FRAMED IT. THEN I THOUGHT IT WOULD
BE FUN TO STITCH IT AGAIN ON PRAIRIE CLOTH
AND DO THE MOON AND PUMPKINS IN WOOL APPLIQUE.
I BACKED THE PILLOW WITH A NICE BROWN HOMESPUN PLAID
AND STUFFED IT WITH WOOL SNIPPETS. IT'S VERY LONG
BUT I LOVE HOW IT LOOKS. WOULD LOOK NEAT
ON A WIDER CHAIR OR BED.
I'M PLEASED WITH BOTH FINISHES.
HERE'S A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PILLOW USING
PRAIRIE CLOTH AND WOOL APPLIQUE. I DID X-STITCH THE STEMS
ON THE PUMPKINS.
SAME VIEW OF THE FRAMED PIECE USING OSNABERG.
BOTH OF THESE PIECES WILL BE OFFERED FOR SALE
AT SOME POINT. I'M NOT SURE YET IF IT WILL BE
ONLINE OR THE SHOW KATHY AND I WILL BE DOING
IN OCTOBER. SPEAKING OF OCTOBER......
HERE IS HOW THE PATTERN BY NOTFORGOTTEN FARM TURNED OUT.
I FINISHED IT LIKE I WOULD A QUILT. I PUT A THIN
COTTON BATTING IN BETWEEN AND THE CHECK HOMESPUN
I SHOWED IN THE PREVIOUS POST FOR THE BACK. THEN
I USED ANOTHER NICE FALL HOMESPUN TO
MAKE A CONTINUOUS BINDING AND FINISHED
IT LIKE A QUILT WITH MITERED CORNERS.
I ADDED A RUSTY PIN AND BELL.
ON THE BACK I ADDED AN OLD BONE COLORED
RING FOR THE HANGER.
THAT'S IT FOR TODAY. I HOPE YOU
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY. IT'S FINALLY TURNED VERY
COOL UP HERE AND I AM LOVING IT! WE HAD
49 DEGREES LAST NIGHT AND MY HOUSE ACTUALLY
FEELS COLD BUT I DON'T MIND A BIT! IT FEELS MORE
LIKE FALL THAN EVER AND I LOVE FALL SO BRING IT ON!!!
UNTIL NEXT TIME...LORI

HOOKING A WHITE PUMPKIN

I JUST FINISHED HOOKING A "WHITE" PUMPKIN THROUGH
A COTTON HANDWOVEN DISH TOWEL AND
THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE HOW I DID IT.
FIRST I MADE MY TEMPLATE FOR MY PUMPKIN
PATTERN FROM FREEZER PAPER, DRAWING IT ON THE PAPER
SIDE AND CUTTING IT OUT. THEN I
FUSED THE TEMPLATE TO THE TOWEL WITH
MY IRON AND THE WAX SIDE OF THE PUMPKIN TEMPLATE FACING
THE TOWEL. I DREW AROUND THE PUMPKIN WITH
A BLACK PERMANENT MARKER AND PEELED
THE FREEZER PAPER AWAY. NOW I CAN
PLACE THE TOWEL ON MY FRAME AND BEGIN TO HOOK. YOU
CAN SEE I DID THE STEM FIRST AND THEN OUTLINED THE PUMPKIN.
YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TO HOOK JUST OUTSIDE THE LINES
AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE PATTERN SO THAT YOU
DON'T SEE ANY OF THE MARKER WHEN FINISHED. THIS WOULD BE
THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU WOULD DO WHEN HOOKING
A RUG. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS WILL MAKE
YOUR DESIGN JUST A BIT BIGGER THAN THE DRAWING.

AFTER I HOOKED THE OUTLINE FOR THE PUMPKIN
AND LINES ON THE INSIDE I FILLED IN
WITH A DIFFERENT TEXTURED WOOL FOR THE MAIN PART
OF THE PUMPKIN.
HERE IT'S ALL HOOKED AND WAITING TO BE STEAMED
AND MADE INTO
A PILLOW. THESE TOWELS ARE FUN TO HOOK THROUGH
AS THEY HAVE A NICE OPEN WEAVE. YOU CAN
FIND THEM IN MOST PRIMITIVE DECORATING SHOPS.
I GOT THIS ONE AT A SIMPLER TIME IN RIPON, WI. A FUN AND
QUICK PROJECT.
HERE'S A PEEK AT A X~STITCH I JUST COMPLETED. I HAVE
YET TO MAKE INTO SOMETHING. I THINK I KNOW
WHAT I WILL DO. I TOOK SOME LIBERTIES WITH
LORI'S DELIGHTFUL DESIGN. I'LL BE USING
THE HOMESPUN IT'S LAYING ON AND ANOTHER NEAT
PUMPKIN COLOR HOMESPUN FOR MY FINISH.
UNTIL NEXT TIME....LORI

PUNCHED PUMPKINS AND MORE FINDS

I'VE BEEN WORKING HARD ON LOTS OF FUN THINGS
TO OFFER FOR SALE. THESE ARE SOME PUNCH NEEDLE
PUMPKINS I FINISHED RECENTLY. I ATTACHED
THEM TO SOME NICE HOMESPUNS AND FRAMED THEM
IN BLACK PAINTED FRAMES. I LIKE HOW THEY
CAME OUT. I APPLIQUED TINY WOOL STEMS USING
A TINY BUTTON HOLE STITCH.
THEY ARE NOT AS BRIGHT AS THEY APPEAR.
I HAVE LOTS MORE TO MAKE AND WILL HAVE AN
UPDATE LATER THIS MONTH.
ZOE AND I TOOK A LITTLE TRIP THIS WEEK.
THIS IS A NICE DULL BROWN CROCKERY JAR
I FOUND AT A GARAGE SALE. I LOVE THE SHAPE AND
SQUATINESS OF IT! (I DON'T THINK THAT'S A WORD BUT YOU
KNOW WHAT I MEAN!)
ALSO FOUND THIS SWEET LITTLE OLD FRAME AT AN
ANTIQUES PLACE. I COULD JUST SEE A LITTLE
SAMPLER IN IT. THE OPENING IS ONLY
2-3/4" X 5". THE FRAME HAS A NICE
PATINA. I'M NOT SURE WHAT I'LL STITCH UP
FOR MYSELF TO PUT IN IT. IT MAY JUST
BE A LITTLE MOTIF SAMPLER. I'M SURE IT WILL BE
FUN, WHATEVER I DECIDE.
AND LASTLY THIS IS WHAT MY SWEET ZOE
DID WHEN WE GOT TO YOUR DESTINATION! SHE WAS
TUCKERED RIGHT OUT!! I WAS STITCHING
AND SHE WAS CATCHING SOME ZZZZZZZZZ'S!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE. I HAVE
SO MUCH I WANT TO MAKE. I'M SURE
I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO IT ALL BUT I'M LOOKING FORWARD
TO HAVING SOME SPECIAL THINGS TO OFFER.
STAY TUNED.....LORI
