WORKS DONE AND IN PROGRESS

I TOOK MY FRIEND SHERRY'S ADVICE AND ADDED A
TAIL TO THE CAT I MADE WITH BLACK PRAIRIE CLOTH.
I THINK HE DOES LOOK BETTER SO THANK YOU SHERRY!
HIS TAIL IS MADE FROM THE SAME BLACK HOMESPUN
I USED TO BACK THE CAT WITH. I STUFFED THE TAIL
FLATTER SO IT DOESN'T HIDE THE PUMPKIN.
DO YOU THINK THE TAIL HAS IMPROVED THE DESIGN?
ALSO BEEN STITCHING UP A STORM THE PAST COUPLE
OF WEEKS. HERE ARE SOME OF THE PATTERNS I'VE
STITCHED THAT AWAIT MAKING INTO PINKEEPS,
CUPBOARD HANGERS OR FRAMED PIECES.
THIS IS HOW MY PN SUNFLOWER TURNED OUT. IT LOOKS
BRIGHTER THAN IT DOES IN PERSON. I'VE BACKED IT WITH
BROWN HAND DYED WOOL AND WOOL YARN AROUND THE OUTSIDE.
I WHIPPED UP THIS HOOKED SUNFLOWER MAT TODAY FOR
AN ONLINE RETREAT WITH MY GROUP ON EBAY
AN AMERICAN PRIMITIVE GATHERING (AAPG).

HAVE LOTS MORE IDEAS OF THINGS TO MAKE BUT NOT
ENOUGH HOURS IN A DAY TO MAKE THEM ALL. I'LL
KEEP DOING WHAT I CAN THO AND WILL BE OFFERING
SOME THINGS LATE AUGUST ON MY PT ALONG WITH
A FEW EVERY DAY ITEMS.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK. LORI

MILLIE AND THE SHEEP

MY SIL SENT A COUPLE OF PHOTO'S FROM HER
FARM I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE. THIS FIRST ONE IS OF THEIR
PUP MILLIE. I SHOWED HER AS A LITTLE PUPPY
WHEN WE VISITED MISSOURI A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO.
GLENDA SAID MILLIE WAS LAYING ON THE GROUND
AND THE SHEEP CAME OVER TO SNIFF AND BLOW ON HER.
CAN'T YOU JUST SEE HER SAYING, A LITTLE TO THE LEFT, OH YEAH,
THAT'S THE SPOT! I THOUGHT IT JUST
THE CUTEST PHOTO AND ASKED IF I COULD SHARE IT.

GLENDA SAID THE HEAT INDEX WAS 107 AND THE COWS
HAD LINED UP AT THE POND. I THOUGHT IT A NEAT
PICTURE WITH THEM SO PERFECTLY ALIGNED IN A ROW!

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND KEEP COOL! LORI

A GARDENER I AM NOT!

I LOVE FLOWERS BUT I AM NOT A GARDENER BY ANY
MEANS! I DO PLANT POTS OF RED GERANIUMS
AND RED PETUNIAS ON OUR BACK DECK
AS I LOVE THE PUNCH OF COLOR THEY GIVE.
I BOUGHT THE TWO BLACK ROCKING
CHAIRS AT LOWE'S THIS SUMMER.
ZOE AND I OFTEN SIT AND ROCK WHILE SHE
SNIFFS THE SCENTS ON THE SUMMER BREEZE.
I'VE BEEN COLLECTING DIFFERENT OLD AND
WEATHERED GREY THINGS FOR
MY DECKS AND GARDENS FOR YEARS.
I BOUGHT THE OLD LADDER BY THE DOOR THIS YEAR.
I BOUGHT THIS OLD TOOL CARRIER MANY YEARS
AGO FROM A YARD SALE FOR A QUARTER! AHHH,
THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
MY SISTER LOIS PAINTED THE PRIM CROW ON
A PIECE OF DRIFT WOOD SMOOTHED BY
THE WASH OF THE WAVES OVER IT FROM
LAKE SUPERIOR. I HUNG IT INSIDE
AN OLD SIFTER.
THE BIRDHOUSE WAS MADE UP OF SALVAGED
WOOD AND OTHER THINGS FROM OLD BUILDINGS.
THE OLD OIL CAN IS PAINTED BLACK AND VERY
RUSTY BUT THAT'S WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT.
THE OLD WHEEL BARROW WAS HERE
WHEN WE MOVED IN SO I'VE PUT IT TO USE
ON A CORNER OF THE DECK. I BOUGHT
THE BLACK PAINTED MILK OR CREAM CAN THIS SUMMER IN
MY TRAVELS.
SOME OF MY WATERING CAN COLLECTION.
LOVE HOW THEY LOOK ALL IN A ROW.
I'VE HAD THE LONG BENCH FOR SEVERAL YEARS
AND IT'S PERFECT FOR HOLDING THEM.
ANOTHER RUSTY TIN BIRDHOUSE. NEWLY MADE
WITH OLD TIN FOR THE ROOF AND GRAPE VINE
WRAPPED AROUND IT.
OK, I HAVE LOTS OF WORK TO MAKE THIS
LOOK BETTER. IT'S THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE
THAT FACES OUR STREET. WE HAVE A GAS
METER SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT
OF THE HOUSE SO I TRIED TO HIDE IT AS BEST I COULD
WITH AN OLD CHAIR AND PLANTS MY
SISTER LOIS GAVE ME FROM HER
GARDENS. I PUT AN OLD WOOD HAY RAKE BEHIND
THE METER . I FIGURED I MIGHT AS WELL USE IT
 TO PROP UP THE RAKE!
MY FRIEND JUDY GIFTED ME THE OLD RUSTY SHOVEL
AND RUSTY WHEEL. LOVE THEM!
LOIS MADE ME THE LEAF ON THE GROUND OUT OF CONCRETE.
SHE USED A REAL LEAF FOR THE MOLD. VERY COOL!

THAT'S IT FOR MY GARDENING. PRETTY PITIFUL, I KNOW,
BUT THOUGHT I'D SHARE IT WITH YOU ANYWAY.
UNTIL NEXT TIME.  LORI

SUNFLOWER AND PUMPKINS

I STARTED THIS BIG SUNFLOWER WITH TINY PUMPKINS PUNCH
NEEDLE DESIGN THE OTHER DAY. I'M USING ALL DMC FLOSS ON IT.
JUST HAVE TO FINISH
THE BACKGROUND AND THEN MAKE IT INTO
A MAT WITH WOOL BACKING. IT'S A DESIGN
BY MY FRIEND KELLEY THAT I'VE CHANGED UP JUST
A BIT. YOU CAN FIND IT IN HER BOOKLET EARLY HARVEST.
I WAS GOING TO MAKE IT RECTANGULAR BUT
THEN DESIDED TO DO THE TOMBSTONE TOP.

MY FRIEND SHERRY SUGGESTED THAT MY
CAT AND PUMKIN I SHOWED YOU
IN MY LAST POST NEEDED SOMETHING EXTRA
TO MAKE HIM LOOK MORE LIKE A CAT SO
I AM GOING TO ADD A TAIL WHEN I GET TIME.
I'LL SHOW HIM TO YOU AFTER I FIX HIM AND SEE WHAT
YOU THINK. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.  LORI

MORE OF TINA'S SALTBOX & A PROJECT

HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICTURES OF TINA'S
WONDERFUL SALTBOX HOUSE.  THIS ANTIQUE
DESK IS IN THE KITCHEN.  IT LOOKS
LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE THERE IT FITS SO PERFECTLY.
ABOVE IT ARE TWO CROSS STITCH WORKS.
ONE BY TINA AND ONE BY SOMEONE ELSE. NOTICE
THE HOOKED MAT ON THE CHAIR SEAT. SUCH SWEET TOUCHES!
THIS ANTIQUE CUPBOARD IS ALSO IN THE KITCHEN. FILLED
WITH PIECES OF PEWTER AND OTHER GOODIES.
IT IS A GREAT OLD CUPBOARD AND ANOTHER PERFECT FIT.
THIS IS THE LIVING ROOM. MORE PERFECTION IN THIS
ROOM. TINA HAS SUCH A GOOD EYE FOR
PUTTING HER ROOMS TOGETHER. YOU CAN
SEE THE WALL CUPBOARD FILLED WITH TIN THINGS
IN THE BACKGROUND THAT WAS IN MY LAST POST.
ANOTHER ANGLE OF THE LIVING ROOM. LOVE THAT
BLACK CUPBOARD. TINA SAID IT IS AN ANTIQUE
CUPBOARD THAT HAD BEEN STRIPPED AND REPAINTED BY
SALLY WHIMS. YOU'D NEVER KNOW IT WAS REDONE.
TINA'S ANTIQUE SHEEP COLLECTION IN HER OLD BLACK
CUPBOARD. LOVE THOSE PANTRY BOXES ON THE TOP
SHELF TOO!
LASTLY HERE IS A LITTLE SOMETHING I CAME UP WITH YESTERDAY.
KATHY AND I DO A SHOW EVERY FALL AT HER HOME
FOR OUR FRIENDS AND THEIR FRIENDS. I AM TRYING
TO MAKE SOME NEW THINGS. I HAD SOME BLACK
PRAIRIE CLOTH AND WANTED TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING
I COULD DO WITH IT. SOOOO, THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT OF.
I HAD WASHED AND DRIED IT SO IT SHRUNK A BIT
AND THE WEAVE TIGHTER THAN IF I HAD LEFT IT. I DREW
UP A CAT HEAD SHAPE AND THEN
I X-STITCHED THE WORDS AND APPLIQUED THE WOOL PUMPKIN
AND STEM ON WITH THE BUTTON HOLE STITCH.  YES, I KNOW
I SPELLED PUMPKIN WRONG BUT I DID THAT ON PURPOSE! LOL
I DID A BOX BOTTOM SO IT WOULD SIT NICELY AS A SHELF
SITTER. I PUT SOME UNSCENTED KITTY LITTER IN THE
THE BOTTOM TO WEIGHT IT AND THEN STUFFED IT WITH FIBERFIL.
I ENDED UP USING A PIECE OF MUSLIN ON THE BACK OF THE
BLACK PRAIRIE CLOTH BEFORE I PUT IT TOGETHER SO THE
FIBERFIL WOULDN'T COME THROUGH.  WHAT DO YOU
THINK OF MY LITTLE CAT? THANKS FOR STOPPING
BY. HAVE A GREAT DAY.  LORI

A DAY WITH TINA & FRIENDS

OH I HAVE SO MUCH TO TELL YOU! FIRST OFF MY FRIEND
BOBBIE CAME TO MY AREA TO VISIT WITH FAMILY
A FEW DAYS AGO. SHE GIFTED ME THIS
DARLING LITTLE PINKEEP AND SCISSORS WITH WOOL BERRY
ATTACHED AND
I JUST LOVE THEM!! BOBBIE DOES BEAUTIFUL WORK AND I
WILL TREASURE THESE GIFTS OF HER HANDS.
BOBBIE AND I WERE INVITED TO TINA'S SALTBOX
HOUSE IN WISCONSIN YESTERDAY FOR A DAY OF VISITING WITH TINA AND OTHER FRIENDS TINA HAD INVITED FOR
A FUN FILLED DAY. IT'S ABOUT A 3 HOUR TRIP FROM
MY HOUSE TO TINA'S. BOBBIE AND I HIT THE ROAD AT SIX AM
AND BEFORE WE KNEW IT WE HAD ARRIVED! WELL, LET ME JUST
SAY THAT SEEING TINA'S HOME IN PERSON
WAS JUST SO THRILLING. IT IS SO INVITING AND EVERYTHING
DISPLAYED TO PERFECTION! ABOVE AND FOLLOWING WILL
BE SOME PICS I SNAPPED OF THE SALTBOX.
THE PICTURE ABOVE IS HER BACK PATIO. IT'S SUCH
A BEAUTIFUL SETTING. AFTER SAMPLING SOME
DELIGHTFUL TREATS WE PILED INTO TWO
VEHICLES AND HEADED TO A PRIMITIVES SHOP I'VE SHOWN
YOU PICTURES OF IN A PREVIOUS POST, A SIMPLER TIME
THERE WERE 8 OF US AND OH THE FUN WE
HAD CHATTING IN THE CAR AND AT THE SHOP. JUDY, THE
SHOP OWNER WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO TAKE OUR
PHOTO FOR US.
HERE IS OUR MERRY BAND. FROM LEFT TO RIGHT..
BETH, CYANNE, MARSHA, BOBBIE, REBECCA, TAMMY (TINA'S SISTER) TINA AND ME.  REBECCA CAME FROM MINNESOTA, BOBBIE AND I
FROM MICHIGAN, AND THE OTHER GIRLS ALL FROM
WISCONSIN.  YOU CAN SEE BY ALL THE PACKAGES
WE DID SOME DAMAGE IN THE SHOP!
FROM THERE WE HEADED TO A WONDERFUL LITTLE
EATERY IN THE NEARBY TOWN OF PRINCETON CALLED
THE BLUE MOON. AFTER A WONDERFUL LUNCH WE
HEADED TO SOME ANTIQUES SHOPS IN THAT TOWN AND THEN
BACK TO TINA'S HOME ABOUT AN HOURS DRIVE
FROM PRINCETON FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES
OF VISITING AND THEN HIT THE ROAD FOR HOME.
HONESTLY I THINK NONE OF US WANTED TO LEAVE!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TINA FOR HOSTING SUCH
A WONDERFUL DAY. MOST OF US WERE STRANGERS AND IT
FELT LIKE WE HAD KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR YEARS, THE VISITING
WAS SO COMFORTABLE. BOBBIE AND I CHATTED
ABOUT OUR DAY ALL THE WAY BACK HOME!
BEFORE WE LEFT TINA'S SHE GIFTED EACH OF US WITH A LITTLE
BAG AND IN THEM WE FOUND SOME
OF HER PRECIOUS CLOTH BIRDS! THIS IS THE
ONE I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET. HE IS A WONDERFUL
BROWN COTTON PRINT WHICH IS MY FAVORITE SO
HE WILL BE PERFECT IN MY HOME.
THE WOOD TOTE ON TOP OF THE PINE
CUPBOARD WAS MY ANTIQUE PURCHASE. IT'S A SWEET
LITTLE TOTE WITH CUBBIES AND IS NARROW SO IT FIT
JUST RIGHT ON TOP OF MY CUPBOARD.
THIS IS THE TIN LAMP I BOUGHT AT A SIMPLER TIME SHOP.
I WANTED IT FOR IN THE HALLWAY AND I
AM GLAD I GOT IT AS IT'S JUST WHAT I HAD IN
MIND FOR IN THERE. CYANNE AND I BOUGHT
THE SAME LAMP. I AM STILL FULL
OF EXCITEMENT TODAY JUST THINKING ABOUT
ALL THE DAY HELD YESTERDAY. IT WAS TRULY
A SPECIAL DAY WITH FRIENDS THAT I WILL
TREASURE AND NEVER FORGET!! LORI
